Accessibility

We want as many people as possible to be able to enjoy this place, the collection and the exhibitions in complete safety and we hope that the following information will help you plan your experience of visiting Gamba Castle – The Aosta Valley Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (Museo di Arte Moderna e Contemporanea della Valle d'Aosta).

The aim is to create an accessible museum, to be seen, touched and felt.

Ticket

You can buy a ticket on site or online at the following link:

https://www.midaticket.it/eventi/castelli-della-valle-daosta/

Parking

Free parking is possible in an area next to the entrance gate to the castle grounds.

There is a dedicated car park for wheelchair users in the area adjacent to the castle entrance.

People with walking difficulties can be accompanied by car to the castle entrance, but parking is not permitted.

Entering the Museum

To enter the Museum, an avenue, with gravel, can be taken on the right, which from the car park rises slightly, making a wider path to the ticket office.

Alternatively, again from the car park, but on the left, you can take a wide, pebbled staircase that shortens the route to the ticket office but is less easy.

Once inside the museum, from the ticket office it is necessary to climb 12 steps, served by stairlifts, to reach the cloakroom and the start of the tour.

Security and cloakroom

There is a cloakroom with lockers on the mezzanine floor.

Animals

Small animals are permitted as long as they are carried or in a pet carrier. Guide dogs are permitted.

Visit information

For visitors who wish to do so, it is possible to download an accompanying app which is divided into three tour routes, onto their mobile phones: ordinary, for deaf visitors, with LIS translation and subtitles, and for blind visitors. For the latter, moreover, along the route some works have been reproduced with 3D tactile models on a 1:1 scale.

Currently 58 tablets are available for accompanied visits.

Seating

Rooms 1, 2, 6, 8, 9, 11 are equipped with seating.

Accessibility to the floors

The museum is equipped with a lift: from cloakroom level to level C + elevator from level C to mezzanine.

Toilets

The toilets on level 2 are adapted to the needs of people with mobility impairments and are equipped with changing facilities.

Museum services

Near the entrance, down a few steps, there is a vending machine with snacks and hot and cold drinks.
