Gamba Castle

Welcome to Gamba Castle, Aosta Valley Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art. The castle, built in the early 20th century as a holiday residence, takes its name from its owner, the baron Carlo Maurizio Gamba of Turin. Built in a panoramic position on the rocky spur of Crêt-de-Breil, overhanging the Dora Baltea river, the castle was built as a love tribute by Baron Gamba for his beloved wife Angélique Passerin d'Entrèves, who was originally from Châtillon

The Permanent Exhibition

The tour, which follows a chronological and thematic criterion, presents a selection of more than 150 of the most significant works in the collection. It welcomes the visitor to the fascinating landscape of the Aosta Valley seen through the eyes of an absolute protagonist of Romantic painting, J.M. William Turner, and of prestigious 19th and 20th century artists, from Ashton to Delleani, Maggi, Calderini, Bazzaro and Lupo..
